The capital of Colorado is Denver. It has been recognized as a world famous tourist destination because of its breathtaking scenery and world-class skiing. Colorado has the highest mean elevation of any US state. Over a thousand peaks in the Rocky Mountains are over 10,000 ft above sea level. It is also home to 54 "fourteeners," mountains that tower above 14,000 feet. Tourist attractions include the Rocky Mountain National park to the Dinosaur National Monuments. The state was originally mining and agricultural based, but is economically driven by service industries such as medical providers and professional services.
