    A 28-year-old Tupelo man pleaded guilty Thursday morning in Lee County Circuit Court in connection with August 2013 death of former teacher Elizabeth "Betty" Montgomery. John Shannon Gillentine submitted his plea to Circuit Judge Jim Pounds around 10:30 a.m. Gillentine was taken into custody and will remain in custody until he is sentenced on Oct. 29. The District Attorney's office has recommended a 10-year sentence, but Pounds is not bound by that figure.

    According to Attorney General Jim Hood, Audrey Lillian Robinson, 33, of Tupelo, turned herself in to authorities Tuesday after being indicted by a Union County Grand Jury on two counts of illegally obtaining possession of a controlled substance by fraud or misrepresentation. At the time the crimes are alleged to have been committed, Robinson was working as an LPN at a nursing home in New Albany.

    A grassroots "pro-decency" organization Wednesday asked Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane to broaden the scope of her pornographic email investigation to see if federal obscenity laws have been broken.
