About: Danville, Illinois

Founded in 1827 Danville was made up of eighty donated acres. The city was named for Dan Beckwith who donated twenty of those acres. On Wednesday, the school board will vote on whether to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the city for a fourth officer, one fewer than Champaign police assigned to Unit 4. In Danville, the officer would be assigned to both the high school and Kenneth D. Bailey Academy, the alternative school.
