    A woman accused of throwing McDonald's food at employees in the drive-thru window two years ago is suing Des Plaines police officer who responded to the scene - and hit her with a stun gun a dozen times, causing various injuries. Dayna A. Allen said in a lawsuit filed in Cook County Friday that she was getting food at the Des Plaines McDonald's at 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 23, 2012, when officers approached her, ordered her out of her car and then got into the car and Tasered her when she refused.

    Oakton Community College will stop hiring semiretired instructors to teach classes part time, a move that could affect as many as 80 teachers and prompted an overflow crowd to show up at a college board meeting in protest Tuesday night. Officials at the Des Plaines-based college said the move was prompted by a new state law that outlined rules about how much someone who is retired and is receiving a pension can continue to teach at state universities and colleges on a part-time basis.
