    Some Fredericksburg residents were left on edge this morning, when what first appeared to be empty bomb canisters were found in an empty apartment on Hanover Street. Three canisters that appeared to contain 155 mm military shells were found by the owner of the building at 209 Hanover Street at about 10 a.m. The canisters were determined to be empty of any explosive or other contents, according to a press release from the Fredericksburg Fire Department.

    An armed robber got away with several hundred dollars after holding up a gas station-convenience store in Fredericksburg late Friday, police said. The robber entered the Citgo at 2005 Lafayette Boulevard about 10:45 p.m. with a handgun, city police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
