    West Michigan school districts across the state will have to wait until next year to see if lawmakers grant them the flexibility they have been lobbying for to be able to use sinking fund tax dollars for technology and security upgrades. The legislation was among a few bills that Kent and Ottawa county school leaders were particularly keeping an eye on that were killed off when the legislative session ended in the wee hours of Dec. 19. The sinking fund tax generates money for preventative maintenance and renovations to a school district's existing facilities.

The Grand Rapids Press and WZZM-TV report that Darius Keys of Wyoming was arraigned Friday on carrying a concealed weapon and other firearms charges.
