The board approved a contract of up to $11,600 for Human Resources to hire BMI Audit Services, of South Bend, to audit all 400 dependents on city health insurance policies.

    Police say a mud-covered man was arrested when he left a northwestern Indiana cornfield about four hours after investigators believe he tried to run over an officer directing traffic at an apple orchard. Hobart police say the officer dove out of the way Sunday afternoon before he was hit near County Line Orchard.

    A church's proposal to expand its parking lot was tabled by the plan commission Thursday due to drainage concerns. Pastor Roy Richardson wants to combine two lots into one to expand the parking lot at First Church of the Nazarene, located south of the intersection of Old Ridge Road and Lake Park Avenue.
