About: Holland, Michigan
Holland is located in western Michigan on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan on Lake Macatawa. The city was settled by Dutch Americans in the late 1800s, and still carries a Dutch tradition and inspired culture. Holland annually hosts the Tulip Time Festival, celebrating the first festival in 1930 when over 250,000 tulips were planted. Currently, there are over six million tulips found in the city. Notable residents have included actor Taylor Lautner (Twilight), The Verve Pipe's lead singer Brian Vander Ark, musician Sufjan Stevens, and author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz L. Frank Baum.
