About: Walnut Creek, California

Walnut Creek is located in the San Francisco Bay Area in central California. The city is named after a small creek called "Arroyo de las Nueces" in Spanish or Walnut Creek in English. The actual waterway has been routed to flow underneath downtown Walnut Creek via a series of tunnels. The community of Walnut Creek has more open space per capita than any other in the entire state of California, partially because of a $6.7 million bond for the purchase of 1,800 acres of undeveloped land.
