    RICHMOND -- Three people were arrested after leading police on a pursuit from Vallejo to Richmond on Thursday night, Vallejo police said. The pursuit began at 8:19 p.m. when police attempted to stop the vehicle for failing to yield, Lt. California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit near Hercules. The suspect vehicle exited at Cutting Boulevard in Richmond and collided with another vehicle. Police established a perimeter with Richmond Police and CHP and found the three suspects, who were arrested and taken back to Vallejo.

    RICHMOND -- A "Build-Out Launch Party" will be held at the end of this month in anticipation of the arrival a new restaurant downtown. The party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 30 at 1600 Macdonald Ave. The nonprofit downtown revitalization group Richmond Main Street Initiative has been raising funds "to fund the first phase . Richmond Main Street is partnering with Home of Chicken and Waffles and BART on the project. "There are a lot of great prospects and businesses are becoming interested in coming to Richmond," Elliott said.

  • West Contra Costa board renews charter middle school status

    RICHMOND -- The West Contra Costa board of education this week renewed the charter of the district's oldest charter campus. The charter has been offered another campus made up of portables next to Kennedy High School in Richmond beginning in the fall that is now serving as the temporary home of Coronado Elementary. In other business, the board also honored 19 students who received awards at the Bay Area Science Fair in March. Lopez and Valdez were chosen to represent the district in the Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year competition.
